Windowed Android – Run Multiple-Windows for Android apps

What would it be like if it was possible to get multiple windows on Android, each running different app/activities.

A company called Ixonos had demoed this  at the Mobile World Congress, a system which allows you to work with windows on Android, just like on a desktop PC/Mac.

Of course, with the multiple windows visible at a time, you can have multiple applications running at once. These windows inherit all the classical properties and atributes of desktop PC windows like resizing, maximizing & minimizing. But the bottom line is, we’re not sure if this is the best thing to do on a Tablet.

I have an iPad and think that if this worked on it, it would be excellent.

For example, on my desktop computer, I recently browsed the iTunes App Store and found a whole bunch of apps I thought I could use. Thanks to the Firefox extension Tree Style Tabs, I can see the titles of the apps in a list (the “list” being the series of tabs I have open in a column). So I just need to send a screenshot of this list to my iPad.

All well and good, except that it seems that if I want to go to the App Store on my iPad and download them one by one, I’ll either have to keep switching between “Photos” and “App Store”, or dig out a pencil and paper — exactly the sort of thing my iPad is intended to replace!

great idea, even for a tablet, vast improvement in functionality even if you can only open two apps simultaneously and drag and drop from one to the other.

If you get an Android and login to the app store from a desktop browser, selecting install will remotely push it to your registered device without even touching it.
