Gingerbread 2.3 Release for Nexus One

Google has delayed the launch of Nexus Two potentially due to a hardware bug found during Dogfooding of the device.
Originally, the idea was to launch the Nexus Two device alongside Android 2.3 “Gingerbread”. The Nexus Two has been delayed, so its not going to happen. But Google seems to be running fine with Gingerbread release which will be hitting the Nexus One in the next few days.
The source of news is trustworthy as it comes from a tweet
today from Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, whose on the “leadership team” of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA).

Android now has a new custom ROM being developed by Open source communities every other week. There are so many custom ROMs to chose from, you can always landup getting a the one that suits your taste.
Now you can dual-boot your favorite Android OS with a 2nd Meego OS. Some progress has been made in booting the Linux-based Maemo 5 successor, MeeGo, on select Android devices. Currently Nexus One, Streak, and HTC Desire are all based on the Snapdragon QSD8250 and it is that chipset the development community is focusing on.
The developments is currently suffering from issues with driver portability especially with multitouch, camera. The biggest hurdle is with closed-source nature of Qualcomm 3D drivers, preventing hardware acceleration of the user interface and resulting in painfully slow response times.
However, Nexus One port appears to be making progress the fastest, with dev @vgrade recently tweeting the above pictures of the MeeGo homescreen and menu. Likewise, @Termana posted a blurry image of the homescreen on the HTC Desire.
