ios-vs-androidNo matter what you do,  there’s no way to stop Openness. Android is growing faster than ever. A year ago we heard a figure of 200,00 new devices being activated everyday, the number has grown to 340,000 devices every day, and it aint gonna stop.

As per the latest growth metrics, Android is growing 3x times faster than iOS. Asymco Analyst has extrapolated a growth curve based on the data available. That chart shows that Android has grown nearly three times faster than iOS at comparable moments in its cycle.

While iOS is available only on handful of devices, Android is available on more than 100 devices, the variety and diversity leads to the win-win situation for Android.

iOS is growing at at least 100% per year and Android’s second year was 65x bigger than its first. iOS growth is limited by the ramp rates of a limited portfolio of products. Android growth is limited by how quickly vendors can bring out products. Neither platform is demand constrained and hence they are competing for share of growth not for share of a fixed pie.
